ART Reflection

We are starting a new project where we are making a instrument that is going to be made all by recycled and handmade materials I am going to attempt to make a canjo and we are going to be doing it in art with Mrs. G. I am hoping to make it electric and i would like to make it sound a little like a electric guitar. after I made my canjo I started to make a cigar box guitar and I finished it and it was really good the way it turned out and I also made a little ukulele canjo but that was not really a focus for me It was mostly the canjo and finishing it and make sure that it was flawless. When I was looking on youtube and on google I saw that they had been making some electric canjOs so I thought that it would be really cool to do that so I tried it and i worked really well. And I also painted it rasta colors so it looked like an island style and it fit in with the natural island look.

To get a little more into the detail it has stripes of color running up and down the neck of my canjo and white stripes on the sides and black ends and I also painted in side of the can. I decided to use the materials i used because part of the challenge was not to buy anything and to try and get things that was just laying around at my home. I used a can. hard wood, metal guitar strings, tuning pegs, paint, and tools that helped me with the construction of my instrument. My instruments models after a banjo, electric slide guitar and little bit of the guitar aspect. I am really glad the way it turned out. It has a little bit of an island flare but also sticks the the original roots of canjo realism. All I need to do know is permanently attach the electro amplifier. And after that I am going to hope to make a lot more instruments.

I wanted my instrument to be a kind if island/ country blues but at the same time hare flare and funk. If I could I would have done a little different 4 painting approach to show a little more country because I mostly focused on the island. One of my artiest believe it or not was actually taylor swift i think that some of her music could represent my instrument really well and nicely.

The thing that I found most frustrating is that when I was at home and I just wanted to finish my instrument and I could not because I did not have any  tools to do it or any tuning pegs. To me the most successful was the end product and getting to play it. I would make a more classic country flare that I would paint on to my canjo. I would rate my instrument a 4/5 or a 8/10 because it is not the best I have ever done before. I would rate it about a 9/10 because there are a couple mistakes. About all of the things that I have done I have done before but you could say that I have advanced in working and building. I have learned it is very hard and near impossible to become perfect at something and practice makes perfect so if you make a mistake never give up. Music and art are both considered an “ART” and both have a common ground and this project show that very well.
